Hysteroscopy
Hysteroscopy is a technique that allows us to directly visualize the path of the cervical canal and the uterine cavity, making it possible to diagnose and treat a series of disorders that affect the uterus.
It consists of introducing an endoscope designed for uterine evaluation through the canal of the cervix; To the extent that a distension medium is released that separates the walls, we can move forward and observe the characteristics of the cervical canal, the structure of the uterine cavity, the appearance of the endometrium and the tubal ostium.
The system not only consists of an optic, but also a series of sleeves that allow surgical elements such as scissors, forceps and electrodes to be introduced around it to perform surgical procedures with great precision inside the uterine cavity.
This is how under direct vision we can study the endometrium that presents with some abnormal bleeding, detect and eliminate protrusions such as polyps, fibroids and uterine synechiae (adhesions), evaluate and correct Mullerian malformations, investigate causes of abortions, locate and extract intrauterine devices and apply surgical sterilization methods.
